Yay, new cat lineart to work with!!
I love these new linearts; they're all so expressive and fun to work with.
Even though it's fairly simple (MS Paint image), I love how all the cats came out. I'm definitely getting better in Paint... even though I didn't add shade or highlights this time. This took about 3 days to do.
These are several of my Warrior cats characters, prior to the storm. Morningstar, Sandclaw, Cougarkit, Willowbreeze, and Wildflower are girls; and Mosseye, Foxpatch, Coppersplash, Tumblepaw, and Flamekit are boys. Both Tumblepaw and Cougarkit are actually much older than this-- they've already earned their Warrior names! They're now called Tumblefoot and Cougarflash. Flamekit didn't live past kittenhood, so he doesn't have a Warrior name.
For once I was able to get some of Morningstar's markings to blend. Although I love the idea behind her design and wouldn't change her markings for anything, I have a hard time doing her correctly in Paint. She's supposed to look like a large Singapura cat (which are agouti tabbies more or less), in case you're wondering.
Mosseye looks funny in that pose. I don't really consider him to be a tough or mean cat, so it's odd seeing him look like that. Maybe he's just getting ready to pounce on some prey. ^^
Tumblefoot's about the same. I just made his nose more brick-red than before and gave his tail fewer and thicker stripes. His Moonstar clan version doesn't have those changes, so now there's some difference in design between them! (apart from kaisertiger's much better concept art's colouring of course) I should have blended his markings in too, like his mama's, but I lost patience with that by the time I finished Morningstar.
Cougarkit's lineart was editted on my part, and that's why it's not as nice. It's of that little icon that Flamekit is in, minus the wings and much bigger. Increasing size is a pain in Paint, and I ended up redoing the lines. I still like how she came out, colour-wise. And I hope that sort of edit is within the rules...
Wildflower is still not where I want her. I have a nice idea for her; I'm just having trouble doing it. That pose really suites her though! I can just see her rolling in flowers the way she likes to.
Coppersplash looks fatter than he really is... and a bit too well-groomed here. He's supposed to have a slightly disheveled look to him, like he doesn't care about grooming. But that easy-going air in this pose is perfect for him.
Foxpatch came out a little odd here. Maybe it's the pose. I picture him agruing with another cat here, perhaps in defense of one of his friends. I did a slight tweak to the orginal image because the more distant frontleg looked a bit off to me.
I like how Sandclaw came out. Although I don't really consider her to have that... type of appeal... to her (or to any of my female characters for that matter), the slim look of this lineart works well for her. I always pictured her as being a more slender cat, just not to the extent current Siamese are being bred like (I hate that look).
Don't ask about Willowbreeze or Flamekit...... though I think Flamekit looks absolutely adorable with that lineart!!!
